algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello community,

I have attached a screenshot were I am testing a simple model in karamba. Although I am using one cross section for my panels and one material it seems that i am getting out 2 materials and 3 cross sections. This has happened in previous examples that I have been using karamba and it looks like there is a default material embedded in karamba's component. Any ideas would be more than welcome.

Thank you,

Georios

Hi Georios,

I do not have Karamba installed, but if I remember it correctly the default material is always present. You can not delete it. So there will will always be 2 materials, in case you define one of your own: that one, and default material. There is an "ID" input plug at "New material" component (not sure that was the exact name, but you will figure it out - component by which you create new material). Assign some string to it, like "material2". Then input the same string into each component that requires a beam id too. That will enable you to basically choose the newly created material for an analysis.

Hello djordje,

Thank you for your reply! Yes that is a good point and if I correctly understand your point that is what I was doing already so my cross section,my material and my shell definition have the same id which is "base" as shown in my screenshot. The output still gives me 2 materials which i guess could not affect the results but I still don't seem to understand the 3 cross sections. I guess you are right that since all the properties have the same id, that means that only these properties are being taken under consideration but the output of the assemble model component is rather confusing.

Thank you for your reply again!

Can't remember about the cross-sections. It might be that Karamba sets two default cross-sections, meaning your custom one would be the third. Why two, I do not know.

Apologies,

I thought I posted this discussion to karamba page. I will delete this and make a new on in karamba's home page.

Thank you!
