algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I have always wondered how these forms were created. Are they modelled out of nurbs directly in rhino or is grasshopper. Would the curves be time consumingly drawn in rhino then lofted?
I wasn't able to find the answer out myself so.
Anyway thanks for your feedback.

There's a lot of ways to end up with this kind of geometry. Perhaps it is lofted along the wave from section curves. Perhaps it is lofted perpendicularly from S-shaped splines. Perhaps it is created from control-point grids based on hand-drawn geometry guides. Perhaps it is created from control-point grids based on mathematical equations. Perhaps it is the result of a series of spatial morphs such as bending or UV mapping. Perhaps (though it seems unlikely in the case of the image you posted) it is the result from a bottom-up process. Perhaps it is the result of surface blending between partial fragments.
Perhaps it is entirely made by hand.

thanks for the reply.
So it is basically modelled in rhino without the use of grasshopper.
thanks
looks like a blend between curves or surfaces.
I have no idea who made it or how. It's certainly possible they made it by hand.

It is the work of http://alexhogrefe.squarespace.com, pretty sure he first just modeled it with a physical model in paper. Anyway here is an idea to get some similar stuff although here i use 2 guide surfaces you may need 3 or 4 to get the blend path right.
Actually, he use sketchup with a lofting plugin.
Thanks for this, I didnt expect a definition but that helps me a lot.
