Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Having some issue with a simple surface offset. No matter what the normals of the surface are, the offset is always in one direction. The flip surface doesn't fix the issue either. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Pls see attached. Thanks.

Flipping in Grasshopper, did not work, indeed, not sure why.
In Rhino (select the surface, use flip "Flip") it did worked.

Flipping the surface in Rhino or grasshopper does not change the offset direction

In that case just set the offset distance to some negative value.

Yes I know but this is part of a larger project and I'm doing this on multiple surfaces and it'll be much easier if I don't change values arbitrarily. Wondering if others have the same issue the offset surface component. Thanks again for your input.

I remember using a script from here in the forum that works... (sorry im on the phone so i dont know exactly)

Also you can use the dot product between normal vector from the surface and a reference point to know if you need negative or positive value to the offset.
