algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

i need some urgent help please.. i am distributing rectangles on a surface, so i can extrude them at different lengths using an attractor point.

the distances from the attractor point to the center points of each rectangle ranges from 0.2 to 4.0, and so i remapped these numbers because i want the extrusions to go from 0 to 1. the problem lies with the extrusions... i want the rectangles on the left and right side of the surface to start at 0 and to increase to 1 as they get closer to the attractor point.

i uploaded the gh definition and the rhino file, as well as a sketch of what i want to achieve.

Also, i want to use more than two attractor points, how would i do that?

any help is much appreciated,

Thanx!

Mohammed

Anyone???

Hi Mohammad,

One way to address this is to divide the surface and remap separately for each part.

For example, if you are dealing with a curve, rather than surface, you can try to:

1- Subdivide the edge into right and left part (if you have 1 attractor point).

2- calculate distances to points on the right side, then remap from 0 to 1

3- Calculate distances to points on the left, remap those to 0-1.

Since you are dealing with a surfaces, then the sub-division might not be trivial, but the same idea apply with dividing the surface to 4 parts and map separately.

something?

Sorry for the late reply!!

Thankyou so much for your both your help! but i discovered that the quickest (and most straight forward) way to achieve what i wanted was to use an image sampler!

but thanx for the help!!! :D

this approach would be interesting to see!

Hi,

Well I don't really find why your gh files do not work.

But This gh files show how to make more than one attractor point.

Hope that will help you.

The file have been found on this site.
