Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Does one need to install a particular c# runtime to utilize GH components with scripts written in that language?

I think you need 3.5 c#.net at current stage

Hi Michael:  So I downloaded and installed microsoft visual c# express.  Normal installation procedure ala microsoft.

Still, when trying to use a recent ghx file (hyper.ghx)  I get no visible action in rhino.  I must be doing something wrong.

Hi Al,

if Grasshopper loads you have all the runtime you need. GHX files are grasshopper files (GrassHopper Xml) and all you need to open them is Rhino4 or 5 and Grasshopper. Just start Rhino, type Grasshopper in the commandline and open hyper.ghx via the Grasshopper editor.

If you want to develop custom components (GHA files, for GrassHopper Assembly) for Grasshopper, then you'll need some sort of IDE that can compile .NET 3.5 dlls. Basically Visual Studio 2008 or later, SharpDevelop or MonoDevelop.
