algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I was wondering if it's possible to set a load just to part of a beam.

To illustrate what I'm using it for, I'm modelling a bridge and I would like to simulate a tram crossing said bridge. So I would like to be able to move the force over the beam as well. Is there an easy way of doing this?

Only thing I can think of is shattering the main beam and making the loaded part a different beam component, but this seams unhandy.

Hi Merijn,

at the moment (Karamba 1.2.2) it is not possible to specify loads on parts of beams.

The most economical approach is to specify the tram as a MeshLoad (see example 01_TruckOnABridge.gh which resides in '...\Rhinoceros 5 (64-bit)\Plug-ins\Karamba\Examples\WebsiteExamples').

Best,

Clemens

Alright, thanks for your response! That will work!

Otherwise I'll use the workaround I suggested. Was just wondering if there was an easier way.
