Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I was designing an interface for managing geometry as curves for the components of Peacock, when I realized that could be a lot cooler to store the definition that generates the geometry, rather than just the geometry. I think this may be of interest to many, not only for Peacock users, so I did it in a separate project.

This may be a continuation of the work of Andrew Heumann, Create Snippets With Grasshopper.

Is the first time I make a form with controls so I launched a public beta for those who want to collaborate. You can find the VS project on GitHub.

Thanks. ^^

@Mostapha Yes, with the current version can be done easly. Each person has a BrickBox file (a gh file with internal BrickBox data), if someone shares his file with you, you can drag it to the box to merge his bricks in your file/box. Or open two boxes (open two brickbox components on the canvas), to open the two files separately and choose what brick you drag from a box to another by pressing the Ctrl key.
I would like to have a common library in the cloud so that everyone can upload their bricks, but I have no host or page or knowledge to do that. If someone wants to try to do this, contact me to dga_3@hotmail.com.

Nice work! This is very powerful. Is there a way to package and share my 'bricks' collection with someone else?

@Fred, live is strange xD I do not know why that can happen. I changed the guid of the project, but I do not think grasshopper delete any files. Maybe the Windows Firewall?

Hey Daniel,

Strange thing here, the GHA keeps disappearing from the component folder!

My antivir didn't report anything, so could this be a guid conflict? Usually grasshopper says something when it's the case, doesn't it? Can it delete a dll on its own will?

That's a really awesome contribution Dani, thank you! I was allready happily using Andrew's SnippetCreator to quickly throw in some common functionalities, but the BrickBox seems to take that workflow to the next level. The canvas previews and grouping in tabs seem the main advantage to me. And you made it pretty too, love the animation on the box:)

Super cool useful stuff! And thanks for sharing the source, much to learn in there...

@Piotr

I searched this exception in MSDN, I do not know but the problem it may be the version of the .NET Framework, this component uses the 4. Is it possible that you have a previous version? What version of Rhino 5 you have installed? Which version of Windows? vista? 7? 32/64b?
Maybe someone else can add something here :/

Another 3 minutes later...

Removing GhBrick from component's folder restores GH on WiP back to normal.
