Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am new to Karamba and Grasshopper, so I am basically copying all tutorials I can find on youtube.

I did a simple cantilever beam with a point load at the end.

I tried to optimize the model myself and using only UK beam sections to find the best possible one for the current problem.

I figured out that I need to use CrossSection Range Selector, from there I select the beams, columns etc. that i want. I need to put it into the Cross Section part of the Assemble model box and from there to use the optimize box to find most suitable beam.

For some reason it does't work for me.

One other question. What if I want to place the point load at say half the span? I tried to put a value of //0.5 for the load position, however the load is placed at the 0 support.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!
I'm new to Karamba as well, but in regards to the optimization of the cross-section, have a look at this tutorial (part 5). It worked for me: http://www.karamba3d.com/tutorials/tutorials_basics/intro-karamba-b...

About changing the point load I don't know how to do it either, I change the position and it just disappear and and error pops up in the Assembly.

Hope it helps,

JB

Hi,

Thanks for the videos. I found them on youtube as well, especially video 5 - but I can't modify my model to work. My grasshopper model is slightly different.

I might try and copy the tutorial and then get back to my model.
