Bug or a feature

When baking the attributes are getting simplified. Is this a feature or a bug??

i have geometry and attributes coming in at:

{0;4;5}

{0;4;5}

{1;2;5}

{1;2;5}

ect

but after baking the attributes get simplified in the bake name attribute and on the bake object component.  I was counting on maintaining that structure.

{0;4}

{0;4}

{1;2}

{1;2}

Easily fixed with an additional attribute. Just curious on the behavior. Thanks.
