Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

I am new to using grasshopper and am trying to figure out how to make a script to mimic a wood grain texture in 2d. I have tried approaching it by offsetting lines but end up getting stuck once trying to figure out what components should be used next. Any advice or suggestions would be amazing!

I have attached an image of what I am trying to replicate.

Thank you,

Carson

I think ideally you'd make the layers in 3d, then section them. Just like an actual wood texture. I'd probably start with a collection of concentric mesh cylinders, and put them through a series of deformations that mimic the uneven growth of trees. That still wouldn't give you patterns due to branching or knots, but might be a good start.
