algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone
I am learning grasshopper because I am willing to create 3D pattern on surfaces like this:

I struggle to tidy up all the information gathered as I do not understand what the real use of Weavebird is.
is it not enough to create poligonal meshes of lines with grasshopper and then convert those in T-Spline from lines to obtain smooth 3D pattern like the above?
What is the added value of using Weavebird then? does this also only work with meshes and therefore is useless if what I want to obtain are NURBS?
Could you suggest me any extensive tutorial on how to create meshes with T-Spline and Grasshopper?

T-Splines operates on a quad mesh sub structure that is used as control a set of NURBS surfaces. Weaverbird implements a set of well known mesh smoothing operations.
There are two main differences
a) T-Splines focuses on NURBS surfaces, while Weaverbird focuses on Meshes
b) T-Splines license does cost money, while Weaverbird is free
As you stated, Weaverbird is of no use, if you need to have NURBS surfaces. That said, there are numerous cases, where meshes are better choice over NURBS. e.g. Kangaroo basically works on meshes only. KARAMBA shells are meshes.
Thanks to calirfy.
So there is not differences in terms of geometry outcome and the methods of construction?
In both TS and WB I will have to create a cage-of-lines/meshes-faces that will be then smoothed from the plug-in?
The only plus that weavebird can give is more control and more choises in regard to the smoothing typology, meanwhile T-Spline is always smoothing in the same way and I can edit the geometry only acting on the cage itself?
So would you say that in order to create the kind of geomtries I posted above I can concentrate only on TS and forget about WB?
