algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Greetings,
I'm attempting to use the Optimize Cross Section component to optimize the thickness of my shell. The shell has a unique material applied to it - something close to a carbon fiber composite material. What I would like to do is have it choose from a list of unique shell cross sections (ranging from .25" - 2" heights) and optimize the shell so that the faces of the mesh with greater displacement would have a larger cross section so the overall displacement of the shell is reduced.
I could not find any precedents for using the Optimize Cross Section component for shells, but I read in the new features of version 1.0.5 that it could be used for shells. Would you look at my files to see if I have it set up correct or tell me what I need to do to make this work?

there is an example for optimizing shell cross sections: In Grasshopper go to 'File/Special Folders/Components Folder'. Then open the file 'Karamba/Examples/TestExamples/optiCroSec_Shell.gh'.
Your definition works correctly. Due to the stress singularities at the corners of the foundation the cross section of the shell was changed only there. The overall cross section name of the shell stays the same - this is a bit misleading.
Some cross sections need to be bigger than the maximum you set (see attached definition).
