algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

Do you know any way how to separate compression and tension beams in Karamba?

In a "ForceFlowFinder" component there are sub-components specifying "weighting factor for beams under compression" or "...tension" so there should be a way how to check it, but I can`t find it.

It will be very usefull in order to check if some of beams couldn`t be replaced by string.

Thanks,

R.

there is a component 'resultant section forces' which gives you an average of the section forces in each element: N, M, V. in the pro version there is the component 'section forces' which gives you a more accurate result.

looking at the sign of the axial normal force N of a member should help you.

the force flow finder is an iterative method to remove members not or less needed in the system - so is the tension /  compression eliminator - but since you want to replace them, not eliminate them this maybe isnt the component youre looking for.
