Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Andrea Graziano tipped me off to this nice GH controller app for Android: Rhino Grasshopper Controller.

Thanks to Sam Bernaerdt for putting it together!

He also provides an example definition that works with gHowl to get started.

That's great Luis.  It looks really interesting (I like the multi-touch tracking feature).  By chance, do you know if this is available for iOS?

From what I can tell, I did not find an iOS version.  Perhaps contact Sam directly?  His email can be found on his site.

On another note, do you think one could access mobile device sensors through HTML5 alone?  Would be nice to rid ourselves of having to develop on iOS and Android (and I suppose Windows 8, etc, etc...).

This is so cool. Thanks for the link Luis!

And there was me off to bed when you posted this. As if I don't get enough sleep as it is, you go a pull a stunt like this, at this time of night.

I'm sure it's possible.  It's definitely something to look into.  I'm going to be looking into HTML5, NodeJS, Javascript (in general), and web based applications over the next few months... so it's something I can look into.  Thanks again for the link.

Neat stuff.

Here's a question more for Sam Bernaerdt or another app developer.  Would it be possible to target a particular IP rather than broadcast over the entire wifi network?  Maybe one would enter the target IP (as displayed by gHowl's NetSource @ lead) into the android device.

I'd like to use this over a university's wifi but they block this sort of global broadcasting.

I reckon I'll also email Sam directly as already suggested.

I would be interested in this feature as well...

I know this is an old topic... Just want to say:

I was informed that the app doesn't work on Rhino 5 and was asked to put the code online so that other people can update it... The Android source code is available at https://bitbucket.org/sambernaerdt/rhinograsshoppercontroller, send me an email if you want to contribute...

Kind regards

Sam (sam@bernaerdt.be)

Awesome stuff Sam!  Thx.
