algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Protrusions on a surface

Hi,

I'm having trouble creating protruding elements from a flat surface.

I've started by creating a mesh with circular holes along its surface.

The effect I am trying to achieve is one similar to the London Olympic shooting venue (see attached)magma10.jpg

I did not understand what went wrong, should I set individual anchor points inside the holes?

Any input, suggestion or other help would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately you can't use your existing mesh. Please mak sure you study the following/.
