algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
I am really new to rhino and grasshopper. I have a question about my homework.
I am trying to model a column capital for laser cutter. I divided the column surface in 8 equal pieces. I'm working on one piece then I will mirror it for creating the form of capital. Until now, I have just created the surface with squares but I can't offset it properly. When I offset it, all squares seperate and surface brake to pieces. I want to offset because I need to create double surface to strengthen my model. Also I want to generate holes on each square (like as link below). Could you please help me ?

Each side are symmetrical so I divided into 8 pieces.

So you have two steps to repair this:
The first step is change geometry.(Because rhino can't offset correct new surface)
or
The second step is used scale component.(Better because give to you quick result, but second surface is get warped)
Lunch box this simple way. But you can use only grasshopper tools. So I am very lazy that is why I used lunchbox(version 0.3.5).
Liked this project that you are working on right now.. Keep it up..
The picture that you shared as ribbed panelized knot formation made by ur laser cut process or a referance from somewhere else ? Looks like a brilliant way of modelling.. (thumbs up)
i saw the links but couldn't find the source from whom..
i know but this way is also good.. bu sefer olacak.. :)
Welcome to
Grasshopper
