Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

I'm new at grasshopper and would really need your help! I was looking for some examples in this topic - flip rows with the path mapper but I cannot manage to make it work in my Example..:( Maybe someone could help me?

Thanks! Patricia

Hi Patricia,

by "rows" you mean the branches in the data-tree? I attached a file with two path mappers, one which mimics the Reverse List component and another which reverses the branch order, but also collapses all branches to a single number.

This sounds like a job for the [Split Tree] component. Can you explain a bit more about the data structure you have and which bits of it you want to select?

Thanks Patricia,

it's midnight here and I won't be able to handle this today. If anyone else wants to step in, much obliged. Otherwise it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Ok, problem is that after CatmullClark, your faces aren't in a sequential UV grid any more. They still are similar in vertex orientation, which will help.

The problem in general is that any solution based on single edges of the quads will essentially miss one row in U and V. That is easy to overcome if faces were ordered in a regular grid, but they aren't.

Here's a solution, that while being not very elegant, will give you all the mesh edges in U and V direction.

sorry, wrong file

yes correct, my attempt is missing one each in u and v.

this file now works without missing curves.
