Parametric modelling | Generative algorithm

Hello friends ! .... I wonder how to create a base structure for creating models like in the picture... what will be the initial stage of generative growth to attain such 3d models ? 

Am a final year architecture student and thinking of doing a similar prototype from scratch ...so kindly guide to break the process to create such prototypes
