Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I've been learning grasshopper for approximately a month. I am having trouble creating a definition that utilizes spreadsheet data. What I would like is to create a definition that allows a mesh vertices to move in the "z" vector to an attractor where the height of the movement for each point matches a corresponding number in a data table.

So far I can set the point to be static and correspond to the data set or I can make the vertices move to a slider height value with a point along a curve attractor. I have attached both of these examples.

How can I merge the two? Do I need to separate the data into branches? Am I taking the wrong approach? If anyone has any advice, methods, or definitions to share, I would greatly appreciate the assistance!

Hello Tiesha,

Not sure what you are working on, but I attempted to put something together which might mimick what you are trying to do.  The gh file relies on a csv file (attached) which could be the input for your spreadsheet.  The distance from each mesh vertex to the attractor (in this case, the circle) becomes the amount each point can traverse their distance in z which comes from the csv file.

See if that makes any sense.

Thank you so very much Luis! I am looking it over now to see if it works.
