How to uncap a polysurface

Hi,

I made a lofted surface out of curves and gave a cap to it and it got converted into a polysurface. I now want to give an offset to that polysurface, which I am not able to. Can anyone tell me how to give an offset to a polysurface or how can I convert a polysurface into a surface.
