How to extract high or low points on irregular surface

Hello,

I'm new in grasshopper, and trying to learn , I'm using this example from

http://www.kinch-sessions.com/2012/11/08/rhino-pythongrasshopper-wa...

It doesn't explain how to finish the generated surface similar to how it is shown in images.

If anybody can help me with extracting surfaces or getting rid of the high or low fields on the surface, as in this case?

Hi Kate,

are you sure it's a surface rather than a mesh? Did you manage to get the wave shape or are you looking for a way to do the entire project?

Hello,David,

It's an open surface when I bake it.

I can manage making the surface. I need to learn how to retain only the higher areas on the surface to create a porous pattern like in the example.
I know I can just slice it in Rhino after baking . But how to do it in Grasshopper?

Thanks

You could intersect the surface at a given plane and then split that surface with the resultant curves. And then select only those above the plane height

Or use Solid Intersection:
