how to export a mesh to a new location through google earth?

hi ghowl group,
i'm very new to ghowl. i've got some problems with defining GEO component. can i import the GPS parameters(latitude, longitude and altitude) from google earth? i mean, how did you define "refpt1(geo)" and "refpt1(x,y,z)" in the gHowl_KML file? i like to try it on a new location through google earth. thanks!

Hello,

The refPt1(x,y,z) and refPt1(GEO) are references to a location in Rhino Model space (refPt1(xyz)) and the location on the planet (refPt1(GEO)). What I do is I take a screenshot (File > Save As > Image) from Google Earth, and bring this into Rhino with the 'Picture Frame' command. Then I scale the pictureframe to 1:1. I do this by using the scale that is shown on the imported image from Google Earth. I then find a location on the image which is easy to identify, such as the corner of a building. I draw a point in rhino there (refPt1(xyz)). Then I go to Google Earth and place a placemark on that point. If you look at the properties of the placemak, you get Latitude and Longitude at that point. You must copy those coordinates and place into the GH text panel refPt1(GEO) as {LONGITUDE, LATITUDE, 0}.
