how can I join the centroids of more sub-surfaces?

What do you mean "Join"?

Draw lines between them? in which case, all of them or just the closest... give us a little more to go on please. maybe even a sketch.

[Partition List] using the V count would split your grid into columns and then [flip matrix] to get the rows.
