Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi

I am new to Rhion and Grasshopper, as there are no linux versions of Rhino etc, I have to run it on Crossover Linux, Rhino works about 95%, OK for now.

However when I try to use Grasshopper I get the below error message.

Can someone please help, it might just be my settings ?

Thanks & Regards

Dave

Due to the huge amount of really weird bugs that show up on virtual machines, we do not support them. It's a miracle it works as well as your screenshot shows, but clearly the GDI+ port on Linux is only partial and you're running into those limitations.

OK, thanks for the reply, appreciated, however it looks like Grasshopper is out of the equation for now. was looking forward to doing some voronoi work.

Hope the Rhino team will consider a Linux version soon, lots of eager Linux users keen for it.

Kind Regards

Dave

We'll be using Eto as a UI platform for Grasshopper2. Although I do not know how well Eto behaves on Linux, it was designed to be very cross platform and anyway, the guy who made it now works with us so if there's issues we're not beholden to some other company/group.

Hi,

Thanks that sounds good, when will the new Grasshopper be available ?

Kind regards

Dave

Well, I just about finished with the last serious bugs for GH1 that were holding up Rhino6* so I can start working on GH2 again. It's going to be many months before the first alpha will be available though. A lot of code is done, but I still have to start with the multi-threaded solver pipeline. That's a big job that won't be finished any time soon...

* well, they would have held it up if there weren't other bugs that also have to be fixed first

OK

Thanks for the great work, I know it's a big job and we all appreciate the effort.

Cheers Dave
