Grasshopper forum group permission issue

Hi all,

I am administrator of a group on this forum. I have set all privacy settings to be as open and accessible as possible. See image below.

However, I still get requests from people to be accepted to be a member of this group. I would expect anyone to be accepted automatically instead.

Am I doing something wrong?

The 'Approve all new members' checkbox was active. I deactivated it.

I'd disable the 'Allow members to send messages to the entire group' option though. It's too tempting a way for spammers to stay undetected for longer if they can spew their junk through backchannels.
