Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi David and everyone,

I am currently trying to optimize the window sizes of a row of 6 rooms shaded by two external blocks with Galapagos. Sliders are used to control the windows’ width. The fitness used is the average of 6 different daylight factor values, taken from each room, calculated with the DIVA component. The aim to is find the optimal window size where the average daylight factor is 2.5.

I ran the evolutionary solver and got this this error message.

I have also tried the annealing solver and it ran for 3 days and showed no signs of having a solution. What have I done wrong or is such a configuration conceptual wrong? Pls advise.

Attached are the working files for your reference. The zip file "Window Galapagos" contains a folder of files generated by DIVA and the other is the results folder.

Hi Thian,

fif you update Grasshopper just before it started going wrong? If so, this is a known bug. You'll need to replace your Galapagos object with a brand new one. For some reason the new object incorrectly reads files written with the old object.
