algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Octopus. I'm going to use Octopus with Diva ( daylighting analysis component). I have to outputs from two diva components that I need to feed them to Octopus as objective functions ( minimizing one, and maximizing the other). I looked at various tutorials but they seem to have older octopus components. Could someone points me to a tutorial or help me with figuring out how to do this. I know how to feed my objective functions and my genomes, I just don't know what is P and PS. and ow do I start the solver??

Hi,
There are example files that are part of the Octopus package that can help you out. In terms of getting started, simply click on 'start' in Octopus to start the optimization runs. Make sure that DIVA is turned on (Boolean toggle: TRUE). You can also determine the number of generations and population size (check the octopus manual by Robert, he explains everything there). The P and Ps are explained here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/octopus-basics-help-required
Cheers!

Yassin,
Thanks for your help, I looked at the examples that came with Octopus package, and I still feel lost. I can't really find a start button! I have the feeling that I either haven't installed the package correctly or I'm missing something.
CD2005,
Make sure you have copied the HelixToolkit.dll file into the components folder of Grasshopper and restart Rhino.
