algorithmic modeling for Rhino
The maths for custom decay was beyond me for line charges. If you know how to compute it I can type up a custom line charge C# component, but I'll need an actual equation/algorithm to implement.
Oh no, the math is way out of my league so I can't really help out there.
But it does look like there is "some type" of decay on the line charge, unless I'm reading my vector displays wrong. I don't have the optional box defined and it looks like there is a decay. Do I have to apply the box if I don't want any decay?
Can you elaborate a little on that? Is there any type of decay being applied?
I think the decay is inverse square (which is the most common type of decay in this universe). The person who helped me with the equations no longer works at McNeel though, so getting genuinely expert answers isn't going to happen any time soon.
The box will simply cut off the field, but within the box the field will still decay.
If you really need a no-decay field from a line segment, you may have to just stash a whole bunch of point charges next to each other. How's that for a hack?
