Chaoyangmen Beijing SOHO III by Zaha Hadid Architects

I need to loosely recreate Zaha Hadid, Chaoyangmen Beijing project in grasshopper. 

I tried using metaballs but its a bit complicated to get the void spaces within the spheres... 

I basically need to create 3 or 4 organic spheres that are bridging over each other at different levels. Also would be nice if I can Boolean out the void spaces or atrium's within.

Any ideas to give me a start would be much appreciated...

I thought of offsetting circles or maybe even starting with simple square geometries and use weaverbird to smooth it all at the end. but its been hard to start...
