algorithmic modeling for Rhino
It may be a stupid question, but I've been stuck on this the whole day.
It trying to mesh a specific patch surface adequatly, Catmull-Clark subd seems the proper candidate.
I've tried many things but still can't manage to make it work.
Here's attached the GH shape definition.
Thanks in advance

Hi Thomas
how would you want the resulting mesh to be? Should it follow the curvature, or rather be equally-spaced, etc?
Hello Giulio,
Firstly thanks for answering ! I've been stuck on this for so long !
I have been reading a lot of discussions on meshing surfaces, papers on different meshing techniques (based on curvatures, relaxation, morphing) and trying a lot of different meshing techniques (projection of a grid, removing the ghost-untrimmed surface and dividing, Daniel shrink-wrap models, etc.).
In this situation, the mesh needs to be defined adequatly because I'll be using it for form-finding using dynamic relaxation in order to supress the bending moments in my final structure (cf Heinz Isler's work).
My guess is that the best meshing solution would be to follow the curvature of the surface. If its un-feasible, having the mesh equally-spaced would be one way of achieving a coherent mesh but it would not really "represent" the surface adequatly.
Thanks a lot.
Thomas
Here's some picture (it's obviously exagerated) that the mesh influences a lot the results of the dynamic relaxation through Kangaroo.
