algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
I've read a few posts on this and Daniel Piker has some great videos of similar examples on vimeo but I am trying to get basic polygons to tessellate on their own. The ultimate aim is to then translate this to 3d and once I have a better understanding, see if there is a way to script a 'growth' without drawing each polygon.
I have managed to define polygons and set up an attraction to get them to come together however I cannot seem to stop them from collapsing or entering one another. I have tried to set up springs but I think I may have some things in the wrong places or redundant features.
I have included my example file and a link to the videos on vimeo of similar results that I am trying to achieve. I am very new to grasshopper and am trying to use Kangaroo also but if anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

In both examples however, they are simply organising and linking not completely tessellating.

Hi Michael,
I have added a resisting spring force which act between the vertices of each hexagons to prevent their distortion. Have a look at the files attached.
You still need to adjust the rest length and cut-off to get the right collision.
Hope this helps (took me a while to figure it out, first tried to use a bend component) :)
