Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the arduino to respond, the tiny orange light on the arduino chip is responding to the timer, but the led itself isn't responding. I tried different methods with the led, like blinking and fading, still didn't work.

Check the screenshot I attached below.

Thanks.

Is it possible that the LED in your circuit is connected the wrong way? LEDs are diodes, so they only allow current to flow in one direction. If they're connected backwards, they won't light up

The LED is connected correctly, it works perfectly with the arduino program but not with grasshopper.

Is it possible that you changed the baud rate in either the Firefly Firmata or in the Open/Close port sketch? Also, are you sure you've uploaded the Firefly Firmata correctly? You can check by going to the Arduino IDE and opening the Serial Monitor. Make sure the baud rate is set to 115200 (in the lower right hand corner) and then you should see a series of numbers streaming by (one after the other). If that is happening, then it's likely that the Firmata is uploaded correctly. Other than that, I would guess that it might be a hardware issue.

Can you please tell me more about uploading the Firefly Frimata? Is there anything that I need to do other than moving the firefly files to the components folder?

When I went to the Arduino IDE and tried to open the serial monitor it gave me a message saying (Port busy).

I tried 2 different Arduinos with 3 different computers, so I think it's not a hardware issue.

Thank you.

So I went back and looked up the Firefly Firmata, and it turns out I did not upload it before.

Thank you Andy!!!!!
