algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to develop a surface that is based on layers of convex surfaces which build on one another. I think that the best way to do this is to start with one curved surface, then populate this with points, then use these points to create arcs, and then use the arc geometry to create partial spherical objects.
I've attached a screenshot of a dumbed-down version of what I'm aiming for, modeled in rhino. The other image is of what my arcs currently look like. Can anyone recommend a way to align these arcs to the curved base surface? Is there a way to work with surface normals to achieve this? Or perhaps there is a better way to go about doing this overall?
Thanks!

Hi Peter,
Ok, great - thanks for this. I will check it out. Thanks!!

If you are OK with the "speed" (kinda) I could add the missing bit (trim the mini spheres against each other) or ... way better (faster) ... "filter" the random points in order to avoid any mini-to-mini "contact"
