Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hola everyone

i am trying to move points on a grid in the y direction and relative to each other as their height grows in the z direction.

so far i have only managed to sort them so i have their z coordinates in chronological order, and i assume i must use remap to keep some sense of order for the movement along the y axis.

beyond that i haven't any idea how to do it! any ideas would be very useful!

thanks

oh, i attached a jpeg of what i am trying to achieve with one column of points. (there are more in the grid)

thanks again

Main Components: Sort | Bounds | Re-Map | Construct Domain

haha! yay! i knew it had to be something like this,

um, danny,

would you mind very much taking a look at my definition? there seems to be a problem with sorting in the z direction, i am not sure where the problem lies, i basically want the panels to extrude along the y axis as there height goes up. can you tell where my problem is? i think i am missing something simple.

thanks

sorry, the files:

Hi Mariziah,

You had some connections in the wrong places but it would also appear that that the NULLS are causing issues with the data matching etc.

I have added a clean component and simplified the rest as you don't actually need to sort the rectangles first as the distance to extrude is based upon the height of itself. I changed the Area component to a [Polygon Center] just to reduce the time for processing, but this doesn't really matter.

Make sure you flatten the Inputs to [Bounds] otherwise the domain is only working along a single row and not the entire rectangle.
