Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi so this is probably a very easy question, but I don't know how to subtract one geometry from the other.

I'm trying to replicate what was done here:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/constraining-a-voronoi-sk...

There is a bunch of skeletal voronoi stuff that is still outside my brep and I don't know why. I tried the other intersection component in the linked topic as well but that didn't help either.

I was thinking of trying booleans but are they not the same thing as the intersections?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Please....

It works fine with regular torus breps and other regular shapes, but when it gets to this geometry (double torus) it fails.

Two observations:

a) If you want to replicate what you linked to, Solid Difference is the right tool. Intersection will only return curves.

b) Your "torus" folds in on itself. There is no clear inside/outside relation for the torus. This will lead to problems.

Thank you for replying Hannes!

I see now that I'm screwed because my "brep" is actually reading as an untrimmed surface. I'll post the definition that I used to make the geometry. There isn't any way to convert the shape to a brep right?

And even if it were a brep, since fold in on itself, is there no way to intersect it properly?

I can take it into rhino and delete things that are wrong, but I'm interested in if there is a grasshopper solution.
