algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I am trying to make a perforated wall but the output keeps giving me multiple partially cut walls instead of one completely cut wall. I am not sure why this is not working, I have tried it with both spheres as the cutting object and with closed extrusions but I keep getting the same result either way. I am also getting the same result regardless of whether I try to create the Boolean difference or just trim the wall. I am not sure how to make this work and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have included a sample copy below to show what I am dealing with.

Thank you, I also managed to find a solution using the trim function on the original surface. I am still curious though, do you know why the solid difference comes back with this result (multiple partially perforated walls as opposed to one completely perforated wall)?
Thank you again,
Genya
that's because you are feeding the boolean operation with multiple branches (the spheres). If you right click the sphere output, and choose flatten, you will feed the boolean with only one branch, resulting in only one boolean operation
Not quite sure this is your problem but check : THIS
> Gijs de Zwart: I should have clarified earlier, when I tried to flatten the cutting object list the solid difference and trim came back with a null result. That is one of the reasons I was so confused by this, in theory I thought that it should have worked. Most of the forum discussions that I found mentioned that the list had to be flattened and after that the problem in the forums was usually resolved. However in my case flattening the list simply left me with no result at all. That is why in this case Jesus Galvez advice was very effective since it bypassed the issue that I was having and Systemiq may have illuminated the cause of my dilemma, answering both of my questions. Thank you all very much.
Sincerely,
Genya
