algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi, any help with what is essentially a data tree issue would be really appreciated.
What I'm trying to do is sort a collection of lines by their unitized vectors in world x,y,z space.
I firstly took all the lines and found their angles respective to the z axis and used this to create a series of lists.
Then I took these lists and measured their angles respective to the x axis, thus creating an index map which refers to the first set of lists generated above.
My issue could essentially be treated as two distinct problems:
1. Is there a smarter way of sorting lines by their angle/(unitized vector) in x,y,z space.
2. what is best method of generating the final set of lists as described by the problem above. To see what I'm talking about please see the attached screen shot:
Any help will be very appreciated. I've also attached the file if that helps. Thanks,
James

Not sure about the way,you would want to group the results... anyway, here you go.
Hannes,
Thanks for your quick reply.
Unfortunately what I'm aiming for is to have every group be distinct with respect to both the x and z axis. I can see you reversed the x and z sorting method but ultimately there should be 29 groups so that every group of lines is parallel to each other.
Attached: definition, further explaining what I mean.
