Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

I have a little question regarding the joining of points. In the file attached there are a number of points on concentric spheres, I would like these points to joint from the inside to the out, similar to that of an inverted root system. The points are representative of connectivity per county so they are semi grouped. I don't really mind if all the points are connected or if there are a few too many as I can just delete them out once I have baked it.

Thanks   a lot

Hi,

i had a brief look at your File. After the input of the city geo data you pic specific cities (one time for each of the three spheres) and convert them to points. now you want to connect the points of the 3 spheres with each other, but mostly the ones that are congruent to each other. Is that right?

So the problem is that i can't figure out how you sort the cities for each sphere. You could have a specific Tree Branch for each city and if you dont need one city in one of the spheres you leave it blank.

So you have one Tree with one city for each branch.

than you can put them on different spheres, leaving the original branch path.

to connect the points from the different spheres you only have to connect the points which are in the same tree branch.

if you dont want to sort you can try a Proximity 3D - It searches for nearest points. You could put the spheres very close to each other (Radius: 148,149,150) so the function connects these points. after that take the lines and pull them apart again

Good Luck

Stefan
