algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi there,
I have a list of points mapped out based on world coordinates . I would like to draw an arc from point 1 to point 2 then point 2 to point 3 and so on. Is there an easy way of doing this as i can only seem to get splines but it doesnt give the results im looking for. Attached is an example of what im trying to achieve.

Or copy your excel file, change it (make a new one) and then run that new excel file.
But it seems you want to have several starting points(cities), not only one? In that case I misunderstood you.
exactly lets say i have different sets of start points and end points...you just established how one set is organized on a spreadsheet with start points on sheet1 and end points on sheet2. Is there any way to establish multiple sets of start points and end points on one sheet without baking and swapping them out?
Yes, probably it is possible. But I do not know how to do that.
What crosses my mind is to use a single excel file, instead of many. To add the starting cities to the odd sheet numbers (1,3,5,7), and add the ending cities to the even sheet numbers (2,4,6,8).
In that way you would have 4 (or more, but they need to be added) starting-ending cities sets.
You can chose the desired set from the attached definition.

the only thing I am confused about is how the script is translating the longitude/latitude information to coordinates on the map.
If I were to adjust the borders of the map so I get california towards the center, how could I get the longitude/latitude to also adjust based on the new map? I have attached the new map I am talking about...thanks again
The longitude represents Y axis in Rhino. Latitude, X axis. If the ration of the .dwg drawing is fine (meaning one degree of longitude\latitude equals one unit in Rhino), and you position your drawing in a correct way (prime meridian is Y axis, and equator is X axis) - this enables you correct labeling of the cities from the provided excel coordinates.
Otherwise if you want to move your dwg drawing, you would have to remap the excel coordinates: where Source domain would equal to -180 to +180 for longitude, and -90 to +90 for latitude. Target domain would equal the edge values of world map in Rhino.
I would warmly recommend you to read the Grasshopper Primer.
It will answer most of your present and future questions.
Wow! thanks so much djordje I am reading the primer extensively and I understand the process you are explaining completely. in your worldmap3.gh definition the coordinate values are remapped for both the start city and end city however the map file you have attached seems to be the same map...did u mean for these remapped values to work for my "newmap.3dm" file I attached?
No, I have not used your newmap.3dm file, but the old worldmap-LL.dwg with Los Angeles (California as you stated) centered to the Rhino origin (0,0,0).
im sorry i did not explain it clearer..i meant that if I edited the map I am working with graphically in order to place california towards the center of the map as a graphic gesture...basically I am cutting the map at the vertical line(longitude?) right past india..and moving that chunk to the left side of the drawing... then given the new map file "newmap.3dm" I would need to remap my values based on the edit of the map. I know where everthing goes , I am just trying to find the correct values.

And no, you could not use the newmap.3dm file the way you do. You can move the whole map, but not cut it.
This has to do with the way longitude and latitude is measured: Distance from the prime meridian (vertical line going through London) needs to be the same left and right of it. That is why you can not simply cut the map through India (or at any other place) and glue it to the opposite side. Again: you can only move the whole map.
