Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey Guys,

I am new here (and to grasshopper) so apologies if this is the wrong place to post questions. I have been experimenting while learning tutorials online and have been trying to reproduce this for fun (and training):

http://www.theprovingground.org/2010/06/reading-k3dsurf-mesh-files-...

the shape itself is called a gyriod and I managed to get it off k3dsurf much like the guy did but by importing it as a .3ds file into rhino saved as a .3dm file opened up in a separate rhino file for grasshopper.

The guy didn't offer tutorials on how he got this, but I figured my first step would be to divide the surface. my error reads 'data conversion failed from mesh to surface.' I have no idea if there is something obvious I am doing that is wrong or that I just imported it incorrectly, (which would be frustrating as you can obviously see it being read by grasshopper in preview).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Raz

Sorry I should add it was imported as an .obj file not .3ds
