Mapping Methods (like Maya or Cinema 4D) like Texture

Hi,

in the images below you can see a mapping method called spatial mapping form Cinema 4D. I am wondering if such a mapping method exist for grasshopper already.

It basicly is this tile pattern of black and whit that than is projected frontal on the object and than wraped around it, starting from the left.

I want to apply something like that on a more complex shape than the cube or cylinder.

Ideas?

Best,

Bastian

Grasshopper doesn't do textures or texture mapping at all.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I dont want to map a image based texture. I would like to create a 2D pattern and than wrap it around a geometry. From other 3D Software like maya and Cinema 4D I know different mapping methods. So I was hoping that something like that already exist.

If not does anyone have an idea?

The spatial mapping that I am mentioning works like a frontal mapping from one site and than it starts wrapping it around the geometry.

You can certainly project a point or a curve onto a surface or mesh. One way of doing it is to extrude the shape in the projection direction and then intersect it. If it's a parallel projection you can use the [Project] component. If it's a point projection you'll need to do the extruding and intersecting yourself.
