Elk SRTM3 doesn't match the OSM ???

Ok, so finally I got it...

It was just that I downloaded the wrong .hgt...

So to be 100% sure that you are downloading the correct .hgt file from http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm , you can to go to http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/, select a region, and check the "Entity ID" in the results tab: 

for example, SRTM3N46E028V1 means that you need an .hgt named N46E028.
