Snapshot of data to write out to Excel or Database

I have a model that has multiple input parameters via sliders or whatever.  I manipulate those inputs to experimentally see what the output looks like.  When I get a certain combination of inputs that gives me an output that I'm interested in saving I would like to be able to capture those inputs as a preset case so I can name it and call it back up at anytime to preload my inputs with the saved preset.

I'm thinking the best way to do that would be to write out the data to excel or db using something like gHowl, Slingshot, or Lunchbox (unless there is a better idea.)

I haven't actually set any of this up yet because I'm not sure how to proceed with getting a snapshot of the inputs.  What approach should I take to getting a snapshot?  Something that would allow me to play with all the inputs until I see something I like, then pressing a button which would then grab all the input values and write them out to a named record in Excel?

Here's what I'm seeing as a strategy for the LunchBox Components.  I don't have Excel though so I couldn't test it.

Thanks Chris... this might just be the "jump start" that I need so I can figure out how to do the snapshot... I'm going to try it out today.
