algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello people!
I'm kind of new to grasshopper, so I'm in the point of trying to learn its logic and strategies.
So, I have this school project, for which I try to create a form that looks like this one. I mean not that complicated, but... you get the point! I tried metaballs but the problem is I cannot get a finished, smooth and clean surface, only this dirty and heavy mesh from points. So, does anyone have any idea of how this form could have been created?
Thanks in advance guys! It will be tons of help for me!

to me seems like a shape created on maya or 3ds max
good luck!
you think so? I didn't see that coming.. thanks anyway!
where did you get the picture?
you can ask them....
it seem to be a combination of maya fluid tool (create an explosion),

and create someting inside this geometry, maybe with realflow?

or something else?
Thank you, RWNB
I would definitely ask them, if I hadn't find it in a blog where minimum information about the designer was given (just his name).
These are some interesting stuff you gave me here. But the problem is I haven't worked in maya or realflow previously and I'm really in short of time, to start learning them now. I believed I could do it using rhino and grasshopper alone, as these are the programms I mostly work with. Sorry for staying with it, but wouldn't it be possible to get this kind of forms (not that complicated, I repeat) through rhino and gs? I just want some kind of organic randomness and fluidity.. I don't know.. Maybe a rhino plugin or something? Or am I asking for too much?
you should know that rhino is orignialy a nurbs-modeller.
but what do you want to do should rather generated with polygon (mesh),
and then smooth it.
it is a punishment if you work with rhinos meshfunctions...
therefore prefer to work with a polygon modeler,
if you want to do something like this.
You might try TSplines. It is very easy to use and fast to learn. Start with a shpere and start pulling surfaceses. It becomes a carving project not a parametric problem.
but to create such a form in TSpline? you need something,
thats able to generate such a form with special algorithm..
nice find
well then. Please share the definition tomorrow. (:
;) Sadly I have not really explored millipede yet.
