Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, this is my first attempt in Grasshopper.

I need to get the rhombuses polygons from the pattern for future action, such as offset.

Tried to split surface by the curve, but nothing works for me.

What do you suggest?

Apologize for my English, I hope my question is clear enough.

Hi Bogdan,

The result you need is in the "Surface split" component (grouped in red).

Additional code related to scaling is in purple block.

Wow, thanks a lot for such a quick response, this is exactly what I need.
Now I will try figure out how it works.

Your method was correct (using the "Surface split" component). Just sometimes you need to shrink the size of the surface before you trim it with curves/lines.
That's it.

within the next karamba release there will be a component doing exactly this but based on  a graph defining the connectivity between the (already split) base curves. this is MUCH faster...

Very much looking forward to this.

the component is attached already :) or what do you mean?

Sorry, didn't see the .gha extension. Looking good so far.

Any chance of adding some "inside" points like where you click your mouse with the curve-boolean in Rhino? Maybe sort the corresponding to the front of the tree in the order of the points.

hm .. thought about that too. but this component just goes along the leftmost adjacent line in every node, and duplicates get removed. therefore you sometimes also get the circumference if it is a closed polyline.

your second sentence i did not quite understand..  sort the corresponding to the front of the tree .. ?
