algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have to create a surface from a form that I have as Mesh.

I tried as I have done with a square but it doesn't work..

Can you help me?

Thank You

You can try this, but it will work only with very similar meshes.

Based on your mesh topology, I don't see a quick way to develop it as a proper untrimmed surface, but it is fairly easy to make a trimmed surface out of it, if you have weaverbird, uto's meshedit tools and Nate Miller's lunchbox, which are all worth getting regardless.

So you can extract the mesh edges (weaverbird) and feed them into a patch component (lunchbox).  By extracting the mesh's naked edges (uto meshedit) and combining them into a polyline, you can create a trim curve for your surface.

David's method will give a much cleaner surface btw.

Mine is untrimmed but may look weird (loft with 0 length lines at extremities to get full object).

Thank you both..

@Systemiq

With your solution, I have some problem.. I can't use it on a free-form surface (I have to do a freeform dome, what I am doing now is just a middle passage).. but thank you..

@David

Your solution is quite good, but due to that I have to find a curvature on that surface

What can I do? because when I put my definition of curvature on that immediately that surface became untrimmed.

Can you help me?

Thank you
