Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everybody.
Coming from cinema 4D; I'm really attracted by parametric design allowed by GH.
Today, I have, at my disposal, a pc with rhino running.
My question is:
What should I do at first? learning Rhino basics then diving into GH or learning GH directly, picking rhino tips as and when I need...
I don't want to use rhino as a rendering 3d software but "simply" want to create shapes in GH that I could export then.
I would be interested in your own learning experience.
Thanks for any reply.

Depends if you have much cad experience. If not, I would start in Rhino basics first. I have always found the best way to learn is to attempt to do a real project. That way you are forced to solve the real issues not just playing around. If you have a real goal in mind you have to keep working through to conclusion of the problem. Fundamental 3d cad is useful information when doing grasshopper.
For rhino, here are the training manuals:

There is a lot of terminology in GH which comes from Rhino...I would not skip over learning Rhino before going into GH.
thanks for your help....
