Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I'm struggling with something which seems to be easy, but I can't figure it out. I want to create a tree composed of random values. The tree architecture would be based on the architecure of the input trees (domain and number of items, with identical tree structure). The thing is the "random" component create a unique serie of random numbers. So if the index is the same, the random number is the same.

So, I want to get a unique number for each domain {path}(index) and preserve the tree structure in my output.

Am I missing something manipulating the input tree structure of the random component or do I need a VB box ?

I tried a VB, but I'm having troubles going inside the tree structure...

Thanks,

Olivier

Hi olivier,

If I understood you correctly, you want a unique random list of numbers from particular domain?

You do not want certain numbers to repeat?

If that is so, then I there was a solution by some member I do not recall, with usage of Jitter component:

Hey thank you for the quick answer.

However my problem is not about repeating values but about tree structure. I'm not working with lists, but trees, and even if I have many different domain, the random components picks only a few different values, repeated for every branch. I'm not really sure the jitter can fix it because it works with lists.
