Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am pretty new to modeling with grasshopper and maybe this is a simple thing but I haven't been able to find a good solution... I am trying to manipulate a diamond panel grid with attractor curves to control the density and distribution of the cells (without distorting the overall rectilinear shape of the grid. I have culled the perimeter points out but when I try to add them back later everything goes to hell.)  I have found scores of tutorials online about controlling circle radii about uniformly spaced grid points which is not what I am trying to do at all.

Attached are photos of essentially what I am trying to get at.  What is the best way to go about this?

get a diagrid in any way you prefer. possibly with the lunchbox plug in, then scale using a curve attractor
