Connecting segments with an uneven (irregular) surface division

Hi there,

I have been working on this for a short while now and am stuck. I have managed to get this example working so that when the area of the squares created is between two numbers then the panel is void. What I would like to do is have it determined a diagonal length of line in each of the rectangles, the hypotenuse of the triangle created essentially.

My attempt is shown in the GH file, I was unable to join the intersecting points in a way that created a diagonal line inside each of the rectangle on the surface. The transverse lines on the surface are supposed to be irregular also, but I was unable to do this so it is even.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I have refined this a little and here is where I am at. I am really struggling to create a more uneven distribution of lines. As you can see from the image I have been able to move the subdividing lines in one direction successfully however in the other direction it is more difficult.

Does anyone know how to control the subdivision of a surface so that it is more irregular? Or a post that I could read about how it works so I can maybe figure it out..

Thanks :)
